Greg Brown is a 30-year resident of Hawaii where he has built over 100 luxury homes.

Greg attended the School of Business at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh and for over twenty years prior to founding Brown Development, started several successful businesses on the islands of Maui, Kaua’i and Lana’i.

He is a licensed Real Estate Broker, General Contractor in the state of Hawaii, as well as a licensed Marine boat captain and private instrument rated aviation pilot.

Raised in the state of Maine, Greg is a believer, a family man and an outdoors-man. He resides on Hawaii Island on his Pohakea Ranch in Hamakua on the slopes of Mauna Kea. Greg enjoys his horses very much and his passion for Team Roping and raising cattle , gardening, farming, ranching, hunting, fishing, kayaking, hiking, skiing, spending time on the family ranch, and enjoying the great outdoors. The Brown family lives a self-sustaining lifestyle raising the meat, growing the
vegetables, and catching the fish they eat.

Scott is a real estate enthusiast and entrepreneur with an degree in Mechanical Engineering from Berkeley and a background that includes the founding and management of two real estate and general contracting companies in the California Bay Area, as well as a multifamily development enterprise. Throughout his career, Scott has paired his passion for construction and finance with his detailed knowledge of architecture and engineering in order to develop properties, renovate homes, and partner with investors for large-scale opportunities.

As COO, Scott combines his real estate expertise with bold and innovative ideas for growth and development, embracing new technologies, recognizing housing trends and needs, and strategically executing and monitoring new builds and workforce dynamics.

Scott resides on Maui and enjoys the daily adventures of raising two young boys, while maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle that often finds him on cross-country motorcycle rides or running around the baseball field.

Shannon Mackey Chief Financial Officer

Shannon is the CFO for Brown Development and related companies.  She is a private sector accounting expert with a Bachelors' of Science in Accounting from the University of Toledo with a Minor in Finance.  She has earned and maintained the highest accreditation from Intuit as an Advanced QuickBooks Expert in all QuickBooks platforms.

As CFO, she combines her long career in banking management and small business lending with her accounting expertise. She has worked with small business across Hawaii and the continental US as an accounting trainer/consultant/Fractional Controller and CFO.  She is passionate about optimizing internal processes and procedures by utilizing technologies available.  For Brown Development, she oversees the accounting processes and analyzes projects to help gain insights on projects within the organization and in coordination with outside partners.  She has worked to streamline the accounting workflows within and throughout Greg Brown's companies.

In her off time, she enjoys playing pickle ball, hiking, traveling and hanging out with her family.

Cindy has been a resident of Maui for over 35 years and brings 20 years of construction experience – which includes building her own home with the Self Help Hawaii program. Her extensive accounting background earned her the position of Comptroller and Director of Development for Brown Development. She is also a seasoned professional at pulling permits and dealing with the County.

Randy Anderle
Development Manager

 

Randy has been in the building industry for nearly 40 years. Starting as a tradesman after high school, he started his first business as a framing sub-contractor in the mid 90’s before getting licensed as a General Contractor in 2001 and later returning to school to get his degree in Construction Project Management.

With extensive experience in both commercial works doing a wide range of projects such as Restaurants, Fueling Stations and high-end Tenant Improvements as well several years building mutli-million dollar homes in Vail and Breckenridge, and for the last ten years on the Kona Coast in Hawaii. Randy has a history of success in seeing projects through from the design phase to handing over the keys to a client for their beautiful new home.

Beyond his career accolades, Randy is an accomplished family man and community leader.  He has three grown children, and three that he is still raising with his wife Mellissa. He also coaches Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe paddling to the youth in his community and is the current President of his local Canoe club, and is a director for the local racing association.

Keith has lived on the Big Island of Hawaii since the mid-1980’s and has been in the construction field since he was old enough to hold a hammer. With 40 plus years of experience, Keith knows all the skills of the trade from laying foundation to carving doors. His ability to build a home from the ground up has made him a key member of the team since he joined in 2018.

 In his free time, Keith likes body surfing, swimming, and spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Desire'e was raised on the Big Island, graduated from Parker High School, received her Associate's Degree from Hawaii Community College, and Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and Finance from University of Hawaii at Hilo. Her background includes bookkeeping, marketing and managerial experience construction industry. 

Desire'e is an active member of her community and when she's not at work, she can be found volunteering, frolicking in the great outdoors, painting, diving, dancing, and skating.

Marla Hunter
Design and Development Consultant

 

Marla has over 20 years’ experience in management, leadership and organizational development across a wide variety of industries. Previously, Marla was the Design and Development Director for Brown Development where she assisted several high-profile clients in making their dream home a reality. On the Mainland, she served as General Manager for the Yucaipa Companies where she oversaw operations as well as managed large budget projects, including the conversion of a historical landmark building (Geffen Records) into luxury office spaces. She currently also sits on the Executive Team of a thriving internet fashion startup.

Now settled back in Maui , Marla is once again lending her design and project management skills to Brown Development.
